Located close to the campsite, the Port de Moricq, formerly known as the “Grand Jonchet”, is a place steeped in history and well worth a visit. Although its activity ceased in 1906 due to silting, this historic site remains a fascinating testimony to the region’s thriving maritime activity.
In the 15th century, this trading and fishing port was a nerve center for the grain and wood trade, destined for the major cities of La Rochelle, Bordeaux and Brittany.
